Project Details

C.Co was invited by DCST to work with its stakeholders to help identify areas for improvement with a spotlight on maximising existing resources i.e. ensuring that the right people with the right skills are in the right places at the right time, as well as exploring other areas where efficiencies can be achieved and growth (commercial) opportunities exploited.

The work undertaken was aligned to assisting the Trust in achieving its ambitions to:

  • Reduce costs whilst maintaining and/or improving quality standards
  • Become financially independent and sustainable
  • Grow the business so that it helps more Children outside of the Doncaster area

Key Products/Deliverables

C.Co utilised several products as part of this project, including:

  • PID (Project Initiation Document) – collaboratively developed to ensure that we fully understood our customer’s expectations and needs.
  • Benchmarking Report – providing data that allowed a comparison with other providers in terms of performance and costs, and identify opportunities for further financial and operational improvements.
  • Opportunities Report – identifying opportunities for efficiency, improved quality, growth and commercialisation, bringing in learning and best practice from the wider sector.
  • Outline Business Case – detailing opportunities for improvement, efficiency and growth bringing in market analysis, benefits, risks and deliverability that could support strategic discussion and decision making.

Client Outcomes

The Opportunities Report provided a high-level overview of the priority areas for DCST to consider to continue their journey of improvement. The work utilised the findings of the Benchmarking Report and wider baselining was undertaken through meetings, workshops and observations.

High level cost analysis and research of best practice was undertaken to inform the recommended Opportunities which were based around commercialisation and affordability.

An Outline Business Case was produced for the Trust’s preferred opportunities providing further evidence to support the proposals and detail on the actions required to maximise the opportunities for the Trust.
