Sussex Violence Reduction Unit Partnership
C.Co was commissioned by the Sussex Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) to support the compilation and submission of the Sussex VRP’s Response Strategy.

The production of the Response Strategy involved working with many partner organisations, including West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove Council, 12 District Councils; Public Health England, the local CCGs, the Probation Service and the Police.

The Response Strategy set out a series of ambitious actions to be delivered by all partner organisations including:

  • Developing an outcomes-based framework,
  • Reviewing the measurement and approach to value for money (VfM) and the fiscal benefits of adopting a public health approach to serious violent crime,
  • Supporting all partners to lead and coordinate local responses to serious violence,
  • Reviewing the commissioning interventions to address serious violence and its root causes across the county.

Whilst addressing localised issues, the Response Strategy retained a central theme – highlighting the work required to address serious violent crime and the resource allocation necessary. C.Co’s experience in multi-agency working meant C.Co was able to co-ordinate the relationships and obtain input from all organisations. This collaboration was a crucial component of our work in Sussex.

As a result of the submission of the Response Strategy, the Home Office confirmed a second year of funding. C.Co is now supporting Sussex to further develop a set of performance measures and local delivery plans across the three separate VRP’s in the County.

At C.Co, we help multi-agency partnerships with the challenges they face and work to create public services that deliver for people.
