Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Community Enterprises Ltd (NABCEL) is seeking two new non-executive directors.
Experienced leaders, they will have excelled in their fields and can offer a range of skills gained from the public, private or voluntary sector.
Candidates need expertise in property services or in-depth knowledge of trading companies and the challenges of commercialisation. A time commitment of around two days per month is required. The remuneration is £9,000 per year (non-pensionable).

NABCEL is a local authority trading company based in the Midlands, providing property-related services across Nuneaton, Bedworth and the West Midlands. It was created as a Local Authority Trading Company in 2013 to provide property-related services across Nuneaton, Bedworth and the West Midlands.
NABCEL is looking to expand its understanding of the market and new opportunities and to develop a clear strategy of where NABCEL, as a local authority trading company, fits into this market.

Person specification for non-executive director role
NABCEL is looking for two individuals who both excel in their fields and who can offer a range of skills gained from the public, private or voluntary sector, to complement and balance the existing Board of Directors.
In particular, NABCEL are seeking Non-Executive Directors who can demonstrate experience in a number of the following areas:
- Understanding of the legal framework and challenges in relation to the delivery of services through a Local Authority Trading Company.
- Senior management level experience in the private, public or voluntary sector.
- Robust understanding of the principles and practice of good governance.
- Ability to evidence financial literacy at a level required of a Board director and the behavioural attributes and competencies required.
- Preferably having experience of membership at Board Sub-Committee level, with an ability to bring independent, external perspectives, skills and challenge to strategy development.
- An understanding of, and a commitment to, equality and inclusion.
Duties of a non-executive director
The duty of the Board and each individual Director is to act with a view to promoting the success of NABCEL so as to maximise the benefits for both its customers, the Council and its staff team.
The Board is collectively responsible for the performance of NABCEL. Non-Executive Directors play a crucial role within the Board as, in addition to any specific knowledge and skills that they may have, they provide an independent perspective to the operational Executive Directors.
